History of OMS
CONSTITUTION
OF
THE
ORISSA MATHEMATICAL SOCIETY
(Established
on the 11th September, 1972, Ganesh Chaturthy)

The
Society is named as the Orissa Mathematical Society, hereinafter referred to
as O.M.S.
|
|
The
Head Office of the O.M.S shall be located at the P.G. Department of
Mathematics, Utkal University, Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar – 751004
|
|
Aims
and Objectives of O.M.S
-
To
promote and inculcate research in Mathematics;
-
To
render suggestions for curriculum reforms in Mathematics from school
level to University level;
-
To
organize annual conferences and symposia;
-
To
publish journal periodically on research and teaching of
Mathematics;
-
To
publish periodical in Oriya Language to popularize the subject;
-
To
encourage and discover talents in Mathematics and award prizes and
certificates;
-
To
felicitate persons having outstanding contributions for research and
teaching in Mathematics.

Membership
of O.M.S
Any
person having interest in mathematics (including statistics and computer
science) can become a member of O.M.S by paying either the life
membership fee of the annual membership fee.

|
Executive
Committee (E.C)
The
E.C shall consist of the following members:
-
The
President;
-
The
Vice President;
-
The
General Secretary;
-
Two
Joint Secretaries;
-
The
Treasurer;
-
The
secretary of the Headquarters (located at Utkal University);
-
The
Chief Editor of the Journal of Orissa Mathematical Society (JOMS);
-
The
Executive Editor of JOMS;
-
The
Chief Editor of eh popular periodical (Ganita Bichitra);
-
The
Managing Editor of Ganita Bichitra;
-
Ten
E.C. members;
-
The
Regional Coordinator of he Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO);
Note:
-
The
above office bearers from (I) to (IX) shall be elected by the members of the
O.M.S. with voting rights in eh General Body (GB) meeting of the Society and
shall hold office for a period of one session (from one GB meeting till the
next GB meeting).

The
Regional Coordinator of INMO is to be nominated by INMO.
